How did you first get interested in memory training, and what led you to pursue it as a career?
Thank you for asking that question. My journey into the world of memory training began quite unexpectedly. When I was 16 years old, I stumbled upon a book about memory techniques, and it immediately piqued my interest. At the time, I was struggling with my studies and found it difficult to remember information for exams. So, I decided to give some of the techniques a try and was amazed at how effective they were. The methods helped me memorize and recall information quickly and easily. It was like a light bulb had switched on in my mind, and I realized that anyone could learn these techniques with a bit of practice.
From that point on, I became fascinated with memory techniques and began to delve deeper into the subject. I started attending memory competitions, where I met other memory athletes who were just as passionate as I was about using memory techniques to improve their lives. Seeing how these techniques could be used to do incredible things, like memorizing thousands of digits of Pi or recalling the order of a shuffled deck of cards, inspired me to push myself further and hone my skills.
Over time, I began to teach memory techniques to others, and that’s how my career as a memory trainer and motivational speaker began. The joy of seeing others improve their memory and achieve their goals through the techniques that I had taught them was incredibly fulfilling. I realized that I had found my calling and began to devote myself to sharing my knowledge with others. I believe that memory training can transform lives and that it is a valuable tool for anyone looking to improve their performance in any area of their lives.
What are some of the most important memory techniques or strategies that you teach to your clients and audiences?
One of the most important memory techniques that I teach to my clients and audiences is the technique of association. This technique involves linking information to something that is already familiar or easily memorable. For example, if you want to remember a grocery list, you can associate each item on the list with a specific room in your house. You can imagine a giant apple sitting on your bed or a gallon of milk spilling in your bathtub. By associating each item with a specific location, you can easily recall the list when you go to the store.
Another important technique is visualization. This involves creating vivid mental images to help you remember information. For example, if you want to remember someone’s name, you can visualize their name written on their forehead or picture them doing something that relates to their name. By creating a visual association, you can make the information more memorable and easier to recall.
I also teach the technique of repetition. This involves repeating information multiple times to help you commit it to memory. For example, if you want to remember a phone number, you can repeat it to yourself several times or write it down repeatedly. Repetition can be especially effective when combined with other memory techniques, such as visualization or association.
Lastly, I teach the technique of creating a memory palace or a memory journey. This involves creating a mental map of a familiar location, such as your home or a route you frequently travel, and using that map to link information to specific locations. This technique can be especially useful for memorizing long lists of information or complex information, such as speeches or presentations.
Overall, these memory techniques can be incredibly powerful and effective in improving memory and recall. By incorporating them into daily life, individuals can improve their ability to remember important information and achieve greater success in their personal and professional lives.
Can you tell us about a particularly challenging memory feat that you accomplished, and how you prepared yourself mentally and physically for it?
One of the most challenging memory feats that I accomplished was setting the Guinness World Record for the longest color sequence memorized. This required me to memorize and recite back the order of 160 randomly generated colors in just 15 minutes. To prepare for this challenge, I trained both mentally and physically.
Mentally, I spent several months practicing the specific memory techniques that would be necessary to accomplish the feat. I focused on developing my visualization skills and improving my ability to create strong mental associations between the colors and other memorable images or concepts. I also worked on increasing my overall memorization speed and accuracy, practicing with shorter sequences and gradually building up to longer ones.
Physically, I made sure to take care of myself in the weeks leading up to the event. I prioritized getting enough sleep and eating a healthy diet to ensure that my brain and body were functioning at their best. I also practiced meditation and other relaxation techniques to keep my mind focused and clear.
On the day of the event, I was nervous but also confident in my abilities. I used visualization techniques to create strong mental associations between the colors and memorable images or concepts, such as imagining a green apple or a red fire truck. I also made use of repetition and other memory techniques to help me keep track of the sequence as I recited it back.
In the end, my hard work and preparation paid off, and I was able to successfully recite back the entire sequence, setting a new world record in the process. It was an incredibly challenging feat, but it taught me the importance of dedication, practice, and mental and physical preparation in achieving ambitious goals.
“Memorization is not just about rote repetition, but also about the ability to create meaningful connections and associations between seemingly unrelated concepts. With the right techniques and preparation, even the most challenging memory feats can be accomplished.”

How do you balance the demands of running multiple companies and being a motivational speaker?
Balancing the demands of running multiple companies and being a motivational speaker is definitely a challenge, but I have developed a few strategies that help me manage my time and energy effectively. One of the most important things for me is to prioritize and delegate tasks. I have a great team of employees and partners who help me run my companies, so I focus on the tasks that require my unique skills and expertise, while delegating other tasks to my team. This allows me to free up time and mental space for my speaking engagements and other projects.
Another key strategy is to maintain a strict schedule and routine. I have set times for when I work on my companies, when I prepare for my speaking engagements, and when I take time for self-care and relaxation. By following a routine, I am able to stay focused and productive, while also ensuring that I have enough time and energy for everything that is important to me.
In addition to these strategies, I also rely on technology and tools to help me stay organized and efficient. I use various software programs for project management, scheduling, and communication, which help me stay on top of my tasks and responsibilities, no matter where I am in the world.
Ultimately, I believe that the key to balancing multiple demands is to stay focused on my priorities and to maintain a sense of balance and perspective. I am passionate about both my work as a memory trainer and my work as a motivational speaker, and I believe that they complement each other well. By staying organized, delegating tasks, and maintaining a strict routine, I am able to give my best to both my companies and my audiences.
